I offer translation services from/to English/Slovak language. I have university education in the field of translating/interpreting and I have been working in this field for over 10 years.
I continuously strive to improve my qualification and professional approach to translating and my own work with strong emphasis on quality of the translation. I am a member of professional translation organizations The Slovak Association of Translators and Interpreters and the Union of Interpreters and Translators (JTP).

I offer also sworn translations, sometimes called certified translations. The sworn translation is a translation of document for legal purposes or for purposes of public or government institutions and bodies. Documents that require certified translation usually include contracts, car registrations, diplomas, extracts from the criminal register, marriage certificates etc.

The certified translation can be produced only by a translator who has passed the required exams, is listed in the Register of Experts, Interpreters and Translators maintained by the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic, has the translator identification card with his/her registration number and can use the round official stamp with a 36mm diameter. Activity of certified translators is governed by the Act of the Slovak Republic No. 382/2004 Coll. on Experts, Interpreters and Translators.

I am a certified translator listed in the Register of Experts, Interpreters and Translators maintained by the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic, specialisation in Slovak and English languages, my registration number being 971098.

Prices of non-certified translations range depending on the difficulty of the text from € 13 to 15,- per standard page; price of sworn translations stipulated in the Decree No. 491/2004 Coll. on Remuneration, Compensation for the Expenses and Compensation for Lost Time for Experts, Interpreters and Translators, to a remuneration in the amount € 19.92 per standard page for the translation from one European language to another (i.e. the price applicable for translations between Slovak and English languages).
1 standard page is 1800 characters.

As a member of the Slovak Association of Translators and Interpreters I follow principles set out in their Code of Professional Ethics, inter alia:

I perform the translation work objectively, impartially and without prejudice;
I keep all information I learn about in relation to the performance of translation services confidential (this obligation is directly imposed by the law in case of sworn translations);
I perform the translation work to the best of my knowledge and abilities;
I accept only such translation requests that correspond to my qualification and linguistic skills.

About me

I have finished my university studies of study program “translating and interpreting” at the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica with specialisation in English language and culture. I have the trade licence for translating from October 1, 2008. In 2009 I finished the translation of an excellent book by Eric Hoffer – The True Believer into Slovak language; the book was published in the same year by publishing house Európa under the name Pravoverný. Although I work mainly with non-literary translations, I am currently also working on a larger literary translation project.

I currently cooperate in the field of non-literary translation with several translation agencies and companies as well as my own clients and as the certified translator I cooperate also with public and government institutions such as courts, police or prosecution bodies.

I have become a member of the Slovak Association of Translators and Interpreters in 2010 and of the Union of Interpreters and Translators a few months later. I have successfully passed exams required for Slovak sworn translators in 2011 and I am registered in the Register of Experts, Interpreters and Translators maintained by the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic under No. 971098.
